Just a question then how was Yadier Alvarez SP/LAD already signed prior to this draft? He was signed Jul 2, 2015. So I would have thought he was only eligible here. Or was there some exception made? Trying to understand as I wanted him my last pick but with this last post it has me a little confused. This was the question I deleted. It was explained in the draft last year. My question was how does Yadier Alvarez get drafted last year but not Vlad Jr? They signed the same day. But I guess there was an exception or something. Lol. I was going to ask cause I wanted to take Alvarez and Shaw or whatever lol. But then read through it and was like meh.. Whatever. I lost interest lol. Obviously some confusion which is to be expected, it was an inaugural draft so trying to maximize players we allowed players who were allowed to be signed prior to july 2nd for our prospect draft expecting they would be signed prior to the 2nd (there was a ton of them so Ty named the 3 who were actually relevant at the time.) Olivera as it was pointed out was actually too old so was later included on waivers. Alvarez like Moncada etc was allowed to be signed prior to July 2nd based on reports we had at the time but no one thought about him til he threw a monster showing to scouts. The guy pitched teir two so wasnt even on a list of someone to watch. Like Moncada etc though he was free to sign which made him eligible for our draft along with dozens of others no one would have bothered taking. Albarez opted to wait for the dodgers who would pay more but we never knew this at the time. Someone like Guerrero Jr. Wasnt eligible to sign til after July 2nd (we used the allowed to sign date for the inaugural draft, not the actual sign date) With that being an inaugural draft we needed to figure out who to allow and who not. Not knowing who would sign messed it up, in hindsite we should have just made them all ineligible but our fear was someone signing mid draft and having say Moncada sign when Drew for example was up in the 18th round. The dates are clear now. July 2nd is the date, and we'll use waivers for anyone not signed by the draft date. Anyone signing mid draft will go to waivers. I agree it messed it up and my appologies for that, the league was new, we were unfamiliar with mlb's changed international signing policy which was adjusted that year, but we know it now and it should be corrected for our draft purposes going forward. Hence if they arent signed they arent eligible. Which is an easy solution to a past problem.

Just an FYI as well, if in doubt feel free to ask, Ive got messages from lots of members in the past asking for rulings etc. I dont mind it one bit, so if your up and not sure if someone is allowed feel free to message me or another mod. The Int'l signing period is probably the most difficult part of our draft because their signing period is different. So if you see someone you want but arent sure just send me a message and ill clear it up asap.
We wont be allowing any Int'l prospects expected to be signed prior to July 2nd any more. It was a mistake and caused confusion. But the intention was good as we were trying to increase the prospect pool for a 20 round prospect draft. Since that time dates are set so it ahould be pretty straight forward.

REDS up.
Sorry, just wanted to push this since Jason is new to the league and there's a ton of dialogue since the last pick.

Yes, its five rounds, my comment was just saying who was left this round, and the quicker we get this round done, the quicker we get to the next round and the quicker we get this draft done, and the quicker we get to the waiver draft.

Got it. I understood that when you said get though this, I thought you meant the 3rd round...
