Fantrax Cheatsheet

Hey guys.  I was thinking what the best way to let everyone know about the different features of Fantrax without getting everyone confused.  Decided it was a good idea to create a post and every time someone finds a cool feature or something they think would help, they could post it here.  

Also felt it was only fair to do this since there are 4-5 of us who have used the site and may know how to maneuver better than the rest.  I know Biz and a few others have posted some hints, tips and rule explanations, but maybe we can keep it all here?

I will start.

My Team Preferences

Fantrax doesn't automatically inundate you with emails or assume how you want to see the site, so if you go to TEAM-->MY TEAM PREFERENCES

you will see a ton of different options including adding a team picture, email preferences (towards the bottom), what stats you want to see on your team page, how you would like to view the Live Scoring page, etc. 

Each item has a question mark that will give you any help or explanation of what the field does  

 

My suggestion for the email preferences is to check as many things as you would want to see in email.  One huge difference btwn Fantrax and Yahoo! is that you can actually get NOTIFIED when someone drops a player as opposed to checking every 4 seconds and then losing out to another team.  You can also get other alerts that are very helpful.

stupid question:
is there an email notification if you get a private message from another manager. i might have missed it but i cant seem to find it

apparently not, I already asked the same question. I am used to fantrax and I am fine with it now...that is one feature that I really don't like though. Not only is there no e-mail, I don't think there is even a message on the fantrax page notifying you that someone messaged you.. I think you just need to constantly check the board to see if anyone wrote to you.

also, i mentioned to biz before but maybe you know better about including past history of standings on the site. just for refrence & bragging rights, i figured it would be a nice feature.

hopefully that is something they are looking to fix in the new update coming soon

haha.  It is more of a chat board from what I understand.  Think of it as the Shoutbox below in the forum.  If there was a private message option, it wouldnt notify you. It also doesnt notify you when people post there. 


Also, that's one reason to keep using this forum.  I have been using the forum for trade negotiations if i cant meet up with the team at the same time on Fantrax.  It really isn't a big deal guys lol

Yeah, I think the teams with commish options can add that stuff somewhere (i cant find it bc i dont have commish controls).  it may just be in text format, or we can keep it here.  Unlike Yahoo, Fantrax has a different URL for every season, so you can't necessarily go back to see last seasons standings on that page.  HOWEVER, there is a MY LEAGUES link on your page and when you highlight that and choose ALL MY LEAGUES it will give you a list of every year and you can go back to see everything including rosters, trades...a snapshot of the entire league and history as it was the day the season ended. 



For year 1 on Yahoo, maybe we can add it here? Or we can add it in the forum on Fantrax or somewhere the commish can store it? I thought Tyler had a thread where he was gonna keep that stuff.  unless someone had a better idea.

yahoo stored the history for that type of stuff, i dont think we had any intentions of doing it on proboards.
btw you do have commish controls now

yahoo stored the standings and pplayoff results, but you couldnt really see anything else. Fantrax holds the entire site with every transaction, rosters, standings, etc as it looked when you were playing that season. Its pretty cool if you wanted to look back and see certain things.
