An Open Letter to our fans

Minnesota fans, welcome to the paparazzi press! your 24 hour news cycle of Minnesota Twins information! An opening league draft may be the most important set of decisions were ever going to make for our franchise as it dictates the methodology, philosophy and skill set of our organization. The DBL is a 16 team dynasty league which presents a unique set of variables to consider... So with some experience in large dynasty leagues, our approach was to utilize 2 core attributes to this draft which was based around what we have learned in previous leagues and what we believe we are good at... 

History reveals that most franchises this large will value Youth and ceiling as a premium commodity, consequently the older skill of the league will be under valued in many cases. This rule of thumb should follow us into most drafts and trade discussions. So our organization set out to create a team rich in the attributes which most will covet.... A young high ceiling core of players, Some whom are ready to reach their potential as soon as the season while others are moving towards that...

Now drafting with this type of strategy is not the same as drafting the best available player.... so there will be franchises whom come into the DBL with a higher 'win now' window.  But our approach sets up a two prong attack where we look for upgrades from the typical sources like the drafts and the Twinkies, which is our minor league system, but we also expect yearly upgrades within our own active roster as this young core moves towards their potential and ceiling. 

Of course none of this works unless you draft the right players which is the second part of our Twins philosophy.... Using our experience of the minor league system. Management put forth a criteria of player which included age, ceiling and skillset, and the returns were players which included current Twins starters Anthony Rendon, Nolan Arenado, Mookie Betts, Adam Eaton and Avisail Garcia... As well as 5 of our pitchers which involves Chris Sale, Sonny Gray, Yordano Ventura, Kevin Gausman and Cody Allen. This is the core of your Minnesota Twins with an average age of just 23 years old. 

So here we have it, a young, high ceiling small market team.... Which of course made the hiring of Coach Biz an obvious choice as his detailed approach with the Columbus Blue Jackets, another small market franchise from the DHL made him the perfect fit to lead the Twins and our minor league affiliate ....the Twinkies.
