no one isnt denying that fantrax isnt the superior platform for pools. people dont like change and many of us have grown accustomed to yahoo regardless of how difficult it is to track players including myself. after discussing numerous times about this same issue im willing to listen to the majority and do whats best for the league.
ok im willing to put out a poll to see exactly where everyone stands because we need to move this league along. i dont want an inferior league and people dropping out because it.

one thing i would like to add is that, fantrax does require $80 US for its premium platform. That equates to $5 US each for 16 teams, we can either increase the yearly entry fee to $25 each or keep the $20 entry fee and reduce prizes.
there is a standard platform that is free but i dont know how good it is, maybe someone with lots of fantrax experience can comment. im sure fantrax comes with an app so tracking and setting rosters should be as easy as yahoo or even easier from what ive been told.
i guess we can use this as a trial league for the DHL, i believe there was talk about switching the DHL to a fantrax platform as well.

Hey Guys,
Ill be honest... i found it difficult to stay active last season.... summer time equals less time on the PC.. and our system here which works so well in Hockey dint work for me personally here in Baseball. Its the prospects that made it hard.. we have a huge criteria for what a prospect is in baseball.. and yahoo has a limited prospect database.. so there were always so many players on the wire which i had to filter through to find if they were available and so many players that simply werent there were i searched for them. i found me not even trying to use the wire for upgrades after a while.
Fantrax offers a situation that requires far less work for a manager... all players and prospects are on your roster sperated by colors... Green equals propects... it probably require less use for the forum here too..
Now that may not be good as i know how useful a nd important the forum is for the league..its not just used for information.. it holds our little community here together... but i just dont know if that can be duplicated in the same way as Hockey here under the current setup.
Fantrax also has a live chat on the home page.. which can be cool as a summer addition to keep in social contact. My guess is with alittle work and some collaberation between the mods, we could come up with a way to utilize the new site and the forum to make it work for baseball... but thats up to you guys...

im good with either. I think the summer is a hard time to stay active, just so much going on, so fantrax and its ease is nice. That being said the added cost is a pain in the butt.

I am just curious...
Either way, I don't care what we do, but I prefer Yahoo, simply because I am familiar with it. But there has been a few managers than have been vocal about not wanting to add more money and possibly leaving if it costs more...if fantrax wins the vote, wouldn't it not be fair to the managers that aren't willing to pay more?

well there is a free option on fantrax but im not sure how much league settings we get with that. can someone with fantrax experience comment on this??
ive only used fantrax once and it was many years ago when everything was free and im sure its totally different now.
if not, we can always keep the entry fee at $20 and reduce the prizes. instead of having 1st, 2nd, 3rd & a regular season winner get a prize maybe just 1st and 2nd get a prize? i dont know, we can discuss that afterwards.
more importantly right now we need the 4 remaining votes to step up and cast there ballot so we can move on.

the premium is good for our league cause we trade draft picks and thats a feature on there.. and in truth wed want ther full aresenal of there amenities... they offer allot of great features....
Its 79.99 per year which comes out to 5 dollars a man (5.65 after tax) ... this is seriouslly not allot of money. Maybe we can all either give 5 bucks more... or keep it at 20 and make it 15 a year...

im sure they have alot of great tools but are any really needed? what is included in the free standard version?
for instance, trades & drafts will still be recorded and tracked on proboards

In the end I hope we can all come to a compromise, I would much prefer yahoo as well but more importantly I want the league to continue as I think we've got a great group of guys.
